Barge Building Program

Hughes Marine has been successful for so many decades because of our ability to adapt to an ever-evolving industry. Over the past century, Hughes has gone from moving coal with hopper barges to operating a shipyard to brokering equipment to marine transportation to construction support and is now even back in the shipyard business. Hughes has remained an industry leader in the twenty-first century by purchasing and building barges to expand its fleet. Since 2000, Hughes has built numerous ABS load-line barges that are capable of both coastwise transportation work and heavy construction jobs, as they have the capacity for large crawler cranes. Our newest barge, the HUGHES 2003 was delivered in March 2008.
